3 Reasons You Should Move to Richmond

0

Richmond, Virginia, is one of the oldest cities in the country.  With the best views, incredible parks and zoos, and a great job market, you won’t want to leave!  If you’ve never heard of Richmond and are curious about whether or not it’s for you, these are the top reasons you should consider moving to Richmond!

The Cost of Living Is Very Affordable!

Virginia is an incredibly expensive state for the east coast, but Richmond is different!  Apartments for rent in Richmond, VA, are lower than the national and state average. For example, the average two-bedroom apartment in Richmond sits at $1,230, while the national average sits near $1,400, and the Virginia average is at around $1,300.

Richmond also has some great perks in the affordability of public transit!  The public bus system is extremely cheap, allowing residents to travel wherever they want within reason.

If you want to buy a home, you may end up paying the national average, but if you can shop around and find a home that’s a little smaller within your budget, you can still find a great space.

The James River and Its Beaches

Although you’re not right on the coast, James River won’t let you down!  James River has tons of beaches, and plenty of different little nooks, and lots of opportunities for fun!  Some boating companies will let you rent boats, go inner tubing, and enjoy taking in the summer sunlight.

Along the sides of the river, you can find tons of restaurants with fresh, locally sourced foods and great drinks that can make the summer a little more fun.

You can, of course, drive to see the coast and enjoy those beaches, but having James river so close by makes everything more magical.  You can enjoy everything from live firework shows over the water to fun boating and boarding on the river itself: this is a major reason to move!

The Delicious Food and Great Shopping

Richmond understands the importance of great food!  You can find anything from southern comfort foods to incredible Cajun and international eateries in this wonderful city.  Although some restaurants by the river can be pricier, most of them are completely affordable.

The bar scene is extremely lively, with the weekends offering discounts, clubs, and plenty of places to drink and dance. Even if you don’t know anyone in town yet, hitting the bar scene will make you feel welcomed at first sight.

There are tons of awesome shops as well! So whether you want to shop until you drop, or gather with friends in a bar and celebrate the weekend finally arrives, you can have fun your way when you’re in Richmond!

Above all, Richmond is a city that wants to offer a little bit of everything for everyone.  This is the only city where you can enjoy living on the waterside so inexpensively, all while still enjoying the best of the four seasons.  If you’re considering moving somewhere new and are considering Richmond: consider no longer!  Moving to Richmond will never be a mistake; get out here as soon as you can!
