AK vs AK: Anil Kapoor sheds light on the simmering tension between him and Anurag Kashyap; says, 'Mujhe usne gaali di' | Bollywood Life

Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap, who’ll be seen squaring off against each other in the upcoming Netflix movie, AK vs AK, recently made their reel battle real when they had a heated exchange on Twitter. It all began with the former welcoming his Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara costar, Shefali Shah, to Hollywood after her web show Delhi Crime won the Emmy for Best Drama Series, to which Anurag Kashyap tweeted: “Nice to see some deserving people get international recognition. Waise, aapka Oscar kidhar hain? No? Achha… nomination?” Check out his tweet below:

Things flared up from there for all to see, and it seems the bad blood is only escalating as was evidenced at the trailer launch of AK vs AK. When asked why things have turned so sour suddenly between the two, Anil Kapoor said, “It was never cordial, it was never cordial to be honest with you. There was also the usual stuff, you know, how Anurag Kashyap sabko gaaliyan dete rehta hai, mujhe bhi usne gaali di, ek picture usne jab mujhe offer ki thi (keeps abusing everyone, he used swear words on me, too, when he had offered me a film), I don’t want to get into the past, but it’s never been cordial, tension humesha rahi hai mere aur Anurag ke beech (tension has always existed between us). I’m being very honest, today I got this platform, it’s my trailer release, I want it to be very, very positive, but once we meet and we’ll go ahead and do our individual interviews, I’ll speak about whatever problems exist between us.”

The question to be asked here is whether there’s actually an issue between Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap — their past equation suggests nothing of the sort — or is all an elaborate ruse to con the audience into what could be the greatest promotional strategy for a film, given the premise of Director Vikramaditya Motwane’s AK vs AK. Time alone will tell.
