Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta fires back at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after agent jibe

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has warned Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that he could be axed from the starting XI after the striker’s agent had a pop at the boss. Aubameyang has not performed to his usual high standard since penning a lucrative contract extension earlier this season.
Some of the criticism of Arsenal’s poor performances have landed at the fee of Aubameyang.
The Gabon international’s goals have dried up as the Gunners sit 15th in the Premier League table.
Aubameyang’s agent posted on social media earlier this week blaming Arteta for the side not creating enough chances for his client to finish.
But Arteta has hit back with a stern response and his solution to the problem could be to axe the club captain.
“No one is undroppable,” Arteta said. “At the end of the day, we have to find the right players to win football matches.
“But we cannot forget what Auba has done for this club and what he has done in recent months, not years ago.
“As well, I see how he’s training and how he’s behaving, how much he wants to turn this situation around.
“When I see that type of hunger, it’s about supporting the player as well as the status he has in the team because of the performances he has provided for this football club.”
