Arsenal consider replacing transfer chief Edu with Man Utd legend

Arsenal could reportedly replace current technical director Edu, with Manchester United legend and current Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar said to be in the frame. Van der Sar has been the Dutch club’s CEO since 2016 and has been roundly praised for his work.

Under the leadership of the former goalkeeper and director of football Marc Overmars, Ajax have continued their on-field and off-field success while consistently producing excellent players from their much vaunted academy setup.

However, there have been reports that both Van der Sar and Overmars could be on their way out of the club soon.

Van der Sar has been heavily linked with a return to Old Trafford as their director of football but, according to Dutch outletVoetbal Nieuws, he could end up joining Arsenal instead.

Edu has been the Gunners’ technical director since 2019 but his position has come under scrutiny with the club underperforming this season.
