Battlegrounds Mobile India Launch Party Views Cross 25 Million Across All Platforms
The recently hosted Battlegrounds Mobile India launch party has now crossed over 25 million views across all platforms, with the majority of it made up within the first two days of the event. It’s not a huge surprise given how well the event was doing live, but it seems to have caught most of the industry off guard with just how much demand there is for the battle royale.
Trinity Gaming, one of India’s biggest esports talent management firms, stated that the BGMI launch party accumulated over 9 million views on the first day, and 7 million the following day on the Battlegrounds Mobile India YouTube streams. It also noted that the event was live streamed on Facebook on as well in both Hindi and English, which contributed to the rest of the viewership. Looking at the official YouTube streams, it’s clear that the live stream in Hindi saw much higher viewership than its English counterpart.
“This launch was a huge step in the space of esports as it gave the players a new arcade to explore and compete,” said Trinity Gaming’s CEO Abhishek Aggarwal.
“We have witnessed some of the best content creators and gamers battling it out and displaying their skill set with their exclusive squads.”
The launch party itself saw its prize pool of almost Rs. 6,00,000 taken by team Snax, team Kronten and team Ronak respectively.
“We are eagerly waiting for the esports roadmap of BGMI where teams across all India can showcase their talent, skills and strategies. A brand new era of gaming has just begun,” said team Kronten who came in second in the tournament.
The record breaking numbers also reflect in the numbers shared by Krafton about the game’s engagement, which sees over 16 million daily active users and over 34 million user registrations. Taking these numbers into account, the recently leaked prize pool of Rs. 1 crore isn’t too far-fetched for its first India Series esports tournament.
The game is also set to receive a host of new additions in its July update and the game’s rising popularity is bound to make sure that it keeps getting a good amount of post-launch support.
Battlegrounds Mobile India is now available on the Google Play Store for Android devices with a potential iOS release in the works.
