This week is likely to see a new Call of Duty Warzone update released as part of the next big Cold War Season 4 release.

As expected, a few of the new weapons released last week have proven to be a bit too powerful and have started to dominate in Verdansk.

This includes the MG 82, with the new LMG scheduled to be nerfed soon across PS4, Xbox One, PC and next-gen consoles.

We don’t know in which ways the MG 82 will be changed, with plenty of stuff available to tweak in Warzone Season 4.

The MG 82 is known for its relatively low-recoil and high ammo magazine, meaning it can do serious damage over good distances.

The only thing holding it back right now is that you need to unlock the MG 82 before you start wielding it.

That means many Call of Duty fans might not have it yet as an option, something that is bound to change over the coming days.

To unlock the MG 82, gamers have to reach level 31 on the new Season 4 battle pass. This is a free tier, meaning you don’t need to make any additional purchases.

However, before you get around to unlocking the MG 82, it should be known that developers Raven Software have confirmed they will be nerfing the new gun.

A message from the Warzone team reads: “The MG 82 (BOCW) made one too many trips to the Pack-a-Punch machine before deploying to Verdansk.

“Element 115 is off limits in #Warzone so we will be making an adjustment to this Weapon soon.”

With that in mind, a new Call of Duty Warzone update is expected to drop sometime between Tuesday, June 22 and Thursday, June 24.

Thursdays are the dates chosen for Playlist patches, while Raven Software usually launches more technical patches on Tuesday.

And Raven has already confirmed its plans to make weapon balance changes during Season 4, telling gamers last week:

“In a future patch, we will be making sweeping balance changes to Weapons.

“At a high level, Warzone is a game about engagements. The more time we allot to mechanical and strategic expression within engagements, the higher the ‘skill ceiling’ and the longer our personal journey of mastery.

“We believe the frequency of those engagements and how we navigate them heavily contributes to the overall level of fun. We want to enable more escapes from impossible situations, moments of finesse, epic outplays, and opportunities to flex exquisite marksmanship.

“Due to some Weapons being far more lethal than others in their class, we feel a reduction in the efficacy of those outliers is necessary. We expect these changes will bring the average Time to Kill up by approximately 60 to 100 milliseconds.

“These changes will not only increase the overall capacity for skill expression, but should also introduce some Weapons into viability that have not yet had a chance to shine.”
