Carer's Allowance claims can stop other benefits - online tool shows impact of claim

To get Carer’s Allowance, a person needs to care for a person who gets certain, specified, benefits for at least 35 hours per week. This person doesn’t need to be a relative, or someone one lives with.
It means that those who are impacted by COVID-19 can provide care remotely during the coronavirus outbreak and still claim Carer’s Allowance.
The government states: “This includes giving emotional support over the phone or online.”
However, it’s important to be aware that claiming Carer’s Allowance can have an impact on other benefits.
This means benefits claimed by both the unpaid carer, and the person who is receiving the care.
