Skoda Volkswagen has realised that bringing global products that don’t meet the requirement and cost parameters of the Indian buyers won’t help its cause. Under its revamp plan, there is more input for what is required for Indian products. While it is set for a product blitzkrieg, marketing and branding budgets are likely to rise in the next two years.
The self-realisation has finally come. Auto giant Skoda Volkswagen has understood why it has only 2% share in the Indian market even after nearly two decades of operation. It now wants to go about its India journey “with a clean sheet”. While the automaker has realised that a company cannot grow without the right products, its India 2.0 plan, led by Skoda, a Czech brand, is “largely on track”.
