Cold weather payment 2020: When are Cold Weather Payments made? How to claim

When are Cold Weather Payments made?
Cold Weather Payments depend on the temperatures entirely, with a payment made once the mercury is low enough for long enough.
Those eligible for the Cold Weather Payments will receive a payout if the average temperature in their area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over seven consecutive days.
The scheme runs from November 1 to March 31, and during this time frame for every seven day period of very cold weather £25 will be issued.
