Cumberland Wins MSC Women’s Golf Tournament in Playoff

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Cumberland (Tenn.) captured the 2022 Mid-South Conference Tuesday at Bowling Green Country Club.

The Phoenix and Lindsey Wilson finished Tuesday tied for the lead with a 915. In the playoff from the 18th hole, Cumberland carded a 2-under par while Lindsey Wilson shot 1-under. Cumberland’s two birdies came from Emma Hermannsson and Ida Furuheim who chipped in. The Phoenix clinched the playoff victory on a par putt from Anna Krieger.

Following the conclusion of the tournament the MSC Women’s Golf individual awards were announced. Lindsey Wilson’s Malene Clausen was named the MSC Women’s Golfer of the Year. Krieger earned Freshman of the Year honors.

Campbellsville’s (Ky.) Rick Davis was named the MSC Women’s Golf Coach of the Year while Lindsey Wilson’s Chris Butler earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Hermansson took home the individual title with a 3-over par 219 (72-73-74), She led the field in par four scoring with an average of 4.03. Cumberlands’ (Ky.) Maria Neira finished runner-up with a 223 while Cumberland’s Nathalie Nutu finished third with a 225. Lindsey Wilson’s Zofia Wojcik finished fourth with a 227. Pikeville’s (Ky.) Boo Newsome and Lindsey Wilson’s Hannah Sumner finished tied for fifth with a 228.

Campbellsville finished third with a  928, Cumberlands tallied a 943 to finish fourth and Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) was fifth with a 978. Pikeville finished sixth with a 992, Thomas More (Ky.) was seventh and Bethel (Tenn.) was eighth.

Georgetown (Ky.) finished ninth, Tennessee Southern and Shawnee State (Ohio) round out the team standings in 10th and 11th, respectively.
