Cyberpunk 2077 PS4 and PS5 store date return locked for June

It has been confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be available to purchase from the PlayStation Store again, starting on June 21, 2021.

Sony approved the game’s return to the PlayStation Store this month, having removed it on December 17, 2020.

So fans have little less than a week to wait before they can buy Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and PS5 again.

The news was shared by developers CD Projekt RED as part of a short statement, revealing:

“In relation to Current Report no. 66/2020 of 18 December 2020, the Management Board of CD PROJEKT S.A. with a registered office in Warsaw hereby publicly discloses the decision by Sony Interactive Entertainment to reinstate the availability of the digital edition of Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation Store, effective on 21 June 2021.”

The regulatory announcement is pretty dry and doesn’t provide any details on what has changed as part of the Cyberpunk 2077 return.

CD Projekt RED has released several patches and hotfixes since the game was launched back in 2020.

This followed a flurry of reports from gamers regarding the last-gen version of the game, which suffered from a number of high-profile and serious bugs.

Since then, CD Projekt offered a statement regarding the quality improvement, telling gamers:

“Our top priority since launch has been to fix bugs in Cyberpunk 2077. We have already released two bigger patches and a couple of smaller hotfixes that have improved the game, and we’re not done yet.

“We are focused on fixing the bugs, and crashes players are experiencing across every platform. You can expect more in the way of patches — both small and large — to be released regularly. Our plans for supporting Cyberpunk 2077 in the long-term are unchanged, and we will continue to introduce updates and patches to give all players across all consoles and PCs a better experience with the game.”

It’s expected that some of the game’s worst bugs will be fixed with the return of Cyberpunk 2077 on the PlayStation Store.

But gamers are still being warned that the last-gen version of the game is the worst and that problems are likely to persist that render it a degraded experience when compared to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X.
