Destiny 2 DOWN: Bungie emergency maintenance after BAT, WEASEL, PORPOISE errors

Destiny 2 servers have been brought down for emergency maintenance after BAT, WEASEL and PORPOISE errors hit the hugely popular Bungie shooter. The Bungie Help Twitter account announced that Destiny 2 servers were being taken offline after midday UK time. The account tweeted: “Destiny 2 is being brought offline for emergency maintenance. Stand by for updates.”

The surprise server downtime came after Bungie said they had been investigating BAT, WEASEL and PORPOISE errors players were experiencing.

Bungie first reported these Destiny 2 server errors just before 4am BST today.

At the time the Bungie Help Twitter posted: “We are investigating issues causing Destiny 2 players to receive error codes BAT, WEASEL and PORPOISE.”

The Destiny 2 emergency server maintenance comes as Guardians are waiting to find out where Xur will be this week, and are gearing up for the return of Trials of Osiris rewards.

The latest Crucible challenges will go live from 6pm BST today, so hopefully the server issues affecting Destiny 2 will be cleared up by then.

Elsewhere, in the recent this week at Destiny 2 blog post Bungie revealed some Bungie Store changes on the horizon.

The Destiny makers said: “On July 1, the Bungie Store beta will be rolled out as we prepare to transition to a new e-commerce platform.

“Players with existing Bungie Store accounts will be prompted to change their passwords once the beta is live.

“With the new store, players will be able to sign in using their accounts, which will make viewing, browsing, and purchasing Bungie Rewards an improved and more streamlined experience.

“Please note that any generated Bungie Rewards codes for the Vault of Glass Art Print, Descendant Seal, and Splintered Seal will no longer be valid after July 1, 2021.

“Players who do not purchase these Bungie Rewards before July 1 will need to sign in with a Bungie Store account linked to a account that has completed the appropriate Triumph(s) to purchase the associated Bungie Rewards item.”
