The 1986 World Cup-winner has suffered from ill-health in recent years, and was hospitalised last year for internal bleeding in his stomach. 

Back in 2015, he underwent a gastric bypass to battle his weight gain, having had the same procedure ten years prior.

After news of Maradona’s hospitalisation broke, fans of his and of Gimnasia began flocking to the hospital to give their support.
