Diogo Jota injury: Liverpool confirm star to miss two months in title blow to Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota is out for the next six to eight weeks with a knee injury. Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the news ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match at Fulham. Jota was forced off late on in Wednesday’s 1-1 Champions League draw at FC Midtjylland.
Sky Sports reporter Patrick Davison spoke to Klopp before the match at Craven Cottage.
And Davison tweeted the news that Jota’s injury was serious but did not require surgery.
Davison wrote: “Klopp has confirmed that Jota is out for 6 to 8 weeks. Worse than first thought but better than had then feared. Doesn’t need surgery.”
Jota’s injury comes as another blow to Liverpool’s chances of retaining the Premier League title.
Klopp is already without two key players due to long-term knee injuries.
Centre-back duo Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are set to miss the remainder of the season following knee surgery.
Summer signing Thiago Alcantara has also not featured since the 2-2 Merseyside derby draw at Everton in early October.
Jota joined Liverpool from Wolves for an initial £41million in the summer transfer window.
