Emma Raducanu makes England vs Denmark Euro 2020 prediction after Wimbledon exit
Emma Raducanu is backing England to make the final of Euro 2020 and the 18-year-old star is looking forward to kicking back and watching tomorrow’s semi-final versus Denmark from home. The Brit was forced to retire on Monday night with breathing difficulties when trailing Ajla Tomljanovic 4-6 0-3 in their fourth-round clash at SW19.
There was natural concern during the worrying scenes as the teen’s dream debut ended prematurely.
But Raducanu is now feeling back to her old self following the health scare, having finally broken her silence today.
Speaking to Sue Barker on BBC One while sporting an England football shirt and big grin, Raducanu tipped the Three Lions to beat Denmark in tomorrow’s crunch Euro 2020 last-four showdown at Wembley.
“I think I will be at home for sure just watching the game,” Raducanu said.
“It’s been a busy two weeks so I’ll just kick back at home and watch the game.
“It’s coming home, isn’t it! England to win 2-1.”
Before expressing her excitement for the England match, Raducanu expressed her gratitude to her team, friends and family for supporting her throughout the tournament.
She said: “I’ve had the best time of my life, this whole week has been absolutely incredible.
“I’ve never felt support like it and I’m so, so grateful for everyone that cheered me on during the matches.
“Also for all of the messages I’ve received on social media, I would like to thank everyone who got in touch and supported me in the past two weeks.”
Heading into Wimbledon, Raducanu had just 2000 followers on Instagram. Now she has just under 270,000.
“It’s funny because Instagram actually locked me out, they thought I was a robot or something,” she added.
“Yeah this week we’ve done a great job, I haven’t spent that much time on my phone or checking the news.
“We were just in our bubble focusing and doing everything within our power to get myself ready for the matches ahead.
“I think my whole team have done such a great job in supporting me this week, it’s brilliant to have such a team like that to really get behind me.”
When asked if she has been able to embrace her family, Raducanu explained: “I saw them in the crowd and I have spoken to them on the phone and assured them I was fine.”
