French Open 2021: Naomi Osaka enters 2nd round, defeats Patricia Maria Tig in straight sets- Japan’s tennis star Naomi Osaka is off to flier at Roland Garros 2021. She has defeated Romania’s Patricia Maria Tig in straight sets to win the opening round match in the French Open 2021. She won the opening set 6-4 but had to fight hard in the second set tie-breaker 7-6 (7-4). Osaka, who dropped just four points on her first serve, has now won her 15th consecutive Grand Slam match to reach the 2nd round at Roland Garros.

In the tournament, Osaka will aim to improve her stats on the clay court as she has never made it past the third round at the French Open. World No. 2 is high on confidence after winning her second Australian Open title. Out of the last six Majors on hardcourt, the 23-year-old has won four. Last year Japanese did not participate in French Open.
