‘I am some way off!’ Louise Minchin’s update after challenge leaves her in ‘heap of pain’


BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin has been inundated with compliments after she shared a new profile picture and and gave an update this evening. The 52-year-old was all smiles for her latest snap as she posed in a swimsuit.

In view of her 214,000 followers, she began: “Finally, a new profile pic.”

Giving an update about her fitness, Louise added: “Swimming this time not running as I am still some way off getting back to marathons.”


Many of the presenter’s fans flocked to her post to comment.

One wrote: “Won’t take long to get back up to marathon fitness :).”

However it wasn’t all plain sailing for Louise, as she suffered an injury.

She told Great British Life: “After a joyous seven hours and 17 minutes and a last 200-metre sprint I collapsed in a heap of pain, but feeling incredibly blessed to have a friendship forged in the baking hot desert and cemented in the Cheshire countryside.”

The presenter also previously took time off of BBC Breakfast after she broke her foot and also snapped an ankle ligament.


In December 2020, she gave an update about her health, telling fans her operation had gone well.

“I am the proud owner of a reconstructed ligament, but I had no idea how painful, nor how debilitating it would be,” she told Cheshire Life.

“Being on crutches has given me a very stark sense of perspective of how lucky I am.


“There is also a sense of uncertainty: I don’t know how long it will take me to recover, and when I will be able to run again.”

Louise added she’d have to learn how to run again as she planned to run the London Marathon this year.
