Indy 500 live stream: How to watch IndyCar race, UK start time, full grid

The Indy 500 is one of the most prestigious motorsport events on the calendar and one leg of the Triple Crown – alongside the F1 Monaco Grand Prix and Le Mans 24 Hours. Express Sport brings you all the details ahead of this afternoon’s green flag.

The Indy 500 is a 500-mile race that takes around three hours to complete. The track is 2.5miles long and the cars hit speeds of about 236mph as they blitz around the circular circuit.

Six-time champion Scott Dixon will start on pole after he beat Colton Herta by 0.03s in qualifying last week.

“It was pretty hairy, glad it’s over. It was definitely pretty tense,” Dixon told Fox News.

“I could see the mechanics working on the car as we rolled through, adjusting the wings.

“I asked them not to tell me. It’s definitely a roller coaster of emotions for everybody and I’m actually really relieved that that’s all over.”
