iPhone 15 Pro Type-C port will be faster than that of iPhone 15: Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will have standard USB Type-C ports, while the Pro models could ship with faster Type-C ports, as per Kuo. That by no means makes the Type-C port on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus slower, as the analyst says it’ll be at par with the Lightning port.

iPhone 15 Pro Type-C Port

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus Type-C ports will still support USB 2.0, but the one on the Pro models will support at least USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3. For instance, USB 3.2 enables speeds up to 20GB/second, while USB 2.0 can only 480MB/second of data transfer. The Thunderbolt 3, on the other hand, offers data transfer speeds of up to 40GB/second. Thus if what Kuo says is true, then there will be a significant difference in wired data transfer speeds between the Pro and non-Pro iPhone 15 variants.

The Lightning connector came as a replacement for the 30-pin dock connector in 2012. This marks over a decade since Apple will finally change how its users charge their iPhones. As a result, this move should make many users happy who were previously complaining about the transfer speeds of iPhones for quite some time, as the Android realm had USB Type-C since 2015, and faster ones followed shortly after.
