James Martin inundated with support over sad message about colleagues he’s ‘lost’

James Martin, 49, has reflected on the New Year by “remembering the legends” that we have lost in the cooking industry. The chef was inundated with support as he left a touching message to the infamous Roux brothers.

James featured many chefs on his cooking show, James Martin’s Saturday Morning, including the Roux brothers.

Taking to Twitter, James left a touching message to the brothers on Tuesday in view of his 714,300 followers.

Along with three pictures of the brothers, including two of James with them he penned: “Remembering the legends we have lost a year on from Albert… thoughts to all the Roux family and beyond.”

Many took to the comments to remember the chefs and the lost talent of 2021.

Albert died in London on January 4 last year following a long illness, aged 85.

A statement from his family at the time said: “The Roux family has announced the sad passing of Albert Roux, OBE, KFO, who had been unwell for a while, at the age of 85 on 4th January 2021.

“Albert is credited, along with his late brother, with starting London’s culinary revolution with the opening of Le Gavroche in 1967.”

His son, Michel Roux Jr added: “He was a mentor for so many people in the hospitality industry, and a real inspiration to budding chefs, including me.”
