Jamie Vardy snaps Sheffield United corner flag during Leicester Premier League win

Jamie Vardy scored a 90th minute winner for Leicester against Sheffield United and then snapped the corner flag during his ecstatic celebration. The 33-year-old was sent racing through one-on-one by James Maddison before firing his side into a 2-1 lead.

Rock-bottom Sheff Utd were on the verge of securing their second point of the season before Vardy struck at the death.

Ayoze Perez put the Foxes ahead on the 24th minute but Ollie McBurnie equalised two minutes later.

The two sides looked destined to share the spoils until Leicester snatched it just as the board for added time was going up.

Vardy sprinted towards the corner after beating Aaron Ramsdale and slid into the flag.

The base remained in the ground as the rest of the pole shattered into pieces.

Referee Stuart Attwell booked the striker for his celebration but Vardy laughed at the incident.

Brendan Rodgers’ side moved up to third in the Premier League table with the three points.

Meanwhile, Sheff Utd remain as the Premier League’s basement club and boss Chris Wilder was left to rue his side’s mistakes.

“They have better quality than us,” he said. “If you make the mistakes we make in vital times when you’re seeing a game out, you’re going to get punished.
