Jason Slater dead: Original Third Blind Eye bassist dies aged 49 from

An original member of American rock band Third Blind Eye died on Wednesday morning. Jason Slater’s daughter Alyssa Carlson, confirmed her father’s death to US news outlet TMZ. He was 49-years-old.
The musician was taken to a medical facility in Maui last month before he died from liver failure.
Alyssa told the publication that he had kept the condition a “secret”, and that she only became aware of his ill health after answering a phone call from the hospital he was receiving treatment in in November.
A rep for the band also paid tribute, saying that even though they had not spoken to him since 1996, “when a spirited member of the music scene is taken too soon it is always a sad time”.
The group was formed in 1993, where Slater was the band’s bassist and backup vocalist.

But after recording their first demo, he left the band within the first year, going on to work with several other groups including Snake River Conspiracy, Microdot, Revenge of the Triads and the rap-rock project Brougham.
He also explored songwriting and producing in his years after his departure from the band.
In more recent years, Slater collaborated on four albums with the band Queensryche, including Operation: Mindcrime II in 2005 and 2013’s Frequency Unknown, released in 2013.
Looking back at his time with Third Blind Eye, Slater shared footage to YouTube in 2008 of the band’s first ever recording session.
He continued: “From the first day I met Jason at the Music Annex when Forbidden was recording Distortion in 1994, we hit it off. Madden and music was our bond.
“As time went on, Jason did some pretty amazing things in his allotted slot of life. Jason was a successful producer, engineer, record label mogul, songwriter, musician, manager and partying animal all the while.”
In his tribute, Locicero also said his pal “lived the life of 100 men” with “much of it on the edge”.
“Jason’s greatest strength and trait was his heart. He was full of love. Loved his family. Loved his daughter. Loved his friends. Loved us all like crazy,” he continued, before adding the performer was like a “brother” and made him a “better person and musician”.
Fans also rushed to pay tribute to the talented musician that was taken too soon under the “2020 curse”.
