Jenny Ryan and Anne Hegerty rush to defend ITV show The Chase after fan spots ‘mistake’
Quizzers Jenny Ryan, 39, and Anne Hegerty, 62, have taken to Twitter to clear up a misunderstanding, after a confused The Chase fan claimed to have spotted a “mistake” in a question on the ITV quiz show. After thinking they had outdone the quizzers, the social media user boldly took to the platform to call them out. However, the two chasers soon rushed to the game’s defence to set the record straight.
Tagging the chasers in their tweet, the fan expressed their horror at having spotted the “error”.
They wrote: “In all the shows I’ve seen of The Chase.
“This is the first time I’ve ever seen a spelling mistake on the show. Not Bradley [Walsh]’s fault,” they added.
The social media user went on to clarify what they were referring to.

“But it’s Whisky. Not Whiskey – no E in the word!” they vented, before tagging the gameshow and quizzers.
The question which sparked the social media user’s outrage was one pertaining to a Scottish national dish.
It asked: “The main ingredients of the Scottish dish rumbledethumps are potato, onion and what else?”
The possible answers listed on screen were cabbage, kippers and whiskey.
“It’s only whisky (no E) if made in Scotland, e.g. Glenfiddich, Laphroaig = whisky, Bushmills, Jameson’s = whiskEy,” she replied for the confused fan to see.
Her co-star Anne also commented with a shorter response, writing: “Our MD is Irish. They and the Americans spell it with an e!”
Spotting the helpful response, the baffled Chase fan replied thanking Jenny for her explanation.
They wrote: “Wow. Thank You @jenlion for your reply. And I never knew that.”
The Chase fan went on to add that as they no longer drink, they wouldn’t have known about the two ways of spelling the word.
“I don’t drink anymore. But in the past I did enjoy a small Whisky. Hope all is good with you.
“And I hope you enjoy the game tonight if you are watching it,” they added.
Recently the star sparked a frenzy after posting a glamorous Instagram selfie, ditching her trademark red hair, as fans gushed over her new look.
