Reliance AGM 2021: What to expect

Jio 5G services: Jio’s 4G journey has been sensational right from the word go. The low-cost plans backed by unlimited calling, high-speed data, and the Jio app suite have helped the company amass millions of active users and disrupt the telecom sector. The company in December mentioned that Jio 5G services would roll out mid-2021, which makes us believe that Reliance would take AGM as a platform to announce its action plan for the rollout.

Jio has already achieved speeds of over 1Gbps in its 5G trials. The telco clarified that it had created a complete 5G solution from scratch and the company plans to use 100 percent home-grown technologies and solutions. Jio 5G field trials had begun in Mumbai last week with its own hardware.

Jio 5G phone: Reliance-backed Jio had announced a partnership with Google back in 2020 for low-cost Jio 5G phones. It is said to run on a forked version of Android and is touted to be the cheapest 5G phones in the country. Currently, Realme 8 is the cheapest 5G phone in the country that is priced at Rs 13,999. Speculations are rife the Jio 5G phone would start at as low as Rs 2,500, which should help 2G feature phone users to migrate to the latest network connectivity.

To recall, JioBook specifications and live images had leaked back in March, which hinted us on what’s coming. The laptop is also expected to run a custom Android version and could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset, which comes in partnership with Google and Qualcomm. The JioBook is tipped to sport an HD display with 1366×768 pixels resolution, 2GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage. While the higher variant could have 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
