With Julio Jones seeking a trade, the Seattle Seahawks have reportedly talked to the Atlanta Falcons about the possibility of a deal, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini. But team brass aren’t the only ones who have had those conversations.
According to Russini, Jones and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson have had conversations about playing together.
But the Seahawks may have to give up a lot to add him. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Atlanta is looking for a first-round pick and also wants teams to foot the bill for the star, who has a $15.3 million base salary for 2021.
Rumors about the seven-time Pro Bowler have been flying since he appeared on FS1’s Undisputed and said he was “out of there” regarding his future in Atlanta.
The 32-year-old has been a vital piece of the Falcons receiving corps for the past decade, posting at least 1,300 receiving yards in the six seasons leading up to the 2020 campaign. He was limited to nine games this past season because of an injury and finished with 771 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Adding Jones to the offense would make the Seahawks virtually unstoppable. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett posted 1,000-yard seasons and scored 10 touchdowns each in 2020.
There are plenty of teams reportedly interested, and the Tennessee Titans are among the favorites to land his services.
Florio reported that the “expectation” is Jones will land with the Titans for just a second-round pick, though Russini previously reported that the Falcons had secured at least part of their asking price with a 2022 first-rounder offered by an unknown team.
Among the other clubs interested are the Los Angeles Rams, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
The Falcons will likely hold on to him a bit longer, since moving him after Tuesday (June 1) will save them $15 million in what would have become dead cap space.
