La La Anthony files for divorce from Carmelo Anthony, report says

La La Anthony is on her way to being a basketball ex-wife.

The actress/TV personality/reality star filed for divorce from NBA star Carmelo Anthony on Thursday in New York, reported. Sources told the site that La La Anthony cited irreconcilable differences in the filing but the couple is splitting amicably.

The union has been its own reality show, with multiple public breakups and allegations that Carmelo Anthony has been unfaithful for years. When the couple split in April 2017, Anthony was accused at the time of getting a New York stripper pregnant. The New York Post subsequently reported that he did not impregnate the woman. There was another breakup in 2019.

The Anthonys have a 14-year-old son, Kiyan. TMZ’s sources said the couple will continue to share parenting responsibilities. The three reportedly quarantined together during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

La La Anthony told “The Wendy Williams Show” in June 2017 that her husband wanted to stay with the Knicks to be close to Kiyan. The Knicks had other ideas and traded him to the Thunder in September 2017. Carmelo Anthony played one season for Oklahoma City before bouncing around to the Hawks, Rockets, Bulls and Trail Blazers. He never played for the Hawks or Bulls.

He finally found a home in Portland, first as a starter and then as a shooting threat off the bench. The forward, now 37, has averaged 14.3 points and shot 39.9 percent from 3 in two seasons with the Blazers.
