Liverpool player ratings: Mohamed Salah stands out but six disappoint at FC Midtjylland

Liverpool spent most of the game against Group D’s bottom side FC Midtjylland defending as the Danish giants seized their chance against a young Reds side blighted by injury. The youthful team put out by Jurgen Klopp struggled to step up as Midtjylland spent most of the game in their opponents half.

Liverpool ended their Champions League group stage with a 1-1 after a thrilling encounter at FC Midtjylland.

The clash in Denmark was a dead rubber with Liverpool already topping the group and Midtjylland unsalvageably rock bottom in Group D.

That clearly meant nothing to these two sides though as Mohamed Salah put the young Reds side ahead in record breaking time.

Midtjylland actually enjoyed most of the pressure as the game wore on though, and they grabbed one back via a controversial penalty awarded by VAR.

Caoimhin Kelleher – 7

Did well considering the ball was in his box more than he will probably ever experience again at Liverpool. May be disappointed to have given away a penalty, but was also a little unlucky.

Konstantinos Tsimikas – 5

Didn’t do too much wrong before being swapped out for Andy Robertson as Klopp threw more experience on the pitch.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6

As one of the most experienced players on the pitch, tried to restore some calm in an all-action encounter. Was given the armband at one stage too.

Fabinho – 6

Taken off at half-time to save his legs ahead of this weekend’s clash with Fulham through no fault of his own. Liverpool’s defence looked much shakier without him there.

Rhys Williams – 5

Had a tough time of it as Liverpool were outplayed, and spent most of the game on the back foot.
