Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold makes honest Chelsea and Tottenham title admission


Liverpool are looking to defend their Premier League crown and are facing challenges from Chelsea and Tottenham for the title. Trent Alexander-Arnold has admitted there is some worry over whether or not the Reds can replicate their success from last season.

Alexander-Arnold has admitted there are up to six teams who can challenge for Liverpool’s Premier League crown – with Chelsea and Tottenham currently tussling at the top.

The Reds steamrolled their way to their first-ever Premier League title last season, finishing the season with 99 points.

That was 18 points more than second-placed Manchester City and 33 point ahead of third-placed Manchester United.

This year already looks set to be different, though, with many twists and turns to the campaign.

Even the champions have been shocked, losing 7-2 to Aston Villa in October, while City have been considerably worse this year.

Pep Guardiola’s men sit 14th in the Premier League, with Arsenal 12th and United 11th.

Tottenham currently lead the way at the top, with Chelsea sat in third – with Liverpool in the middle.

And Alexander-Arnold has admitted that they could fight them for the title come the end of the season, along with four others.

“It’s doubtful that we’ll reach the levels we hit and the dominance we had last year.

“It’ll be difficult to do that. We might have to wait a long time for another team to dominate so much.

“There’s been so many shocks so far, it’s going to be that type of season, it’s like that anyway because any team can beat anyone in the Prem.

“It’s just that it’s coming to light a lot more.

“Without being overly critical or disrespectful, it was only really us and City capable of winning it last season but this time you’ve probably got five or six who can push on and be part of the title race.

“But it’s the Premier League. Eight or nine games in means nothing. You’ve got to do it for 38.”
