Man Utd chief Ed Woodward must cut Paul Pogba ties to fund £108m Jadon Sancho transfer

The Paul Pogba saga has taken yet another twist with the player’s agent sensationally claiming that his Manchester United career is “over”. Mino Raiola, who represents the unsettled star, has tipped his client to leave Old Trafford sooner rather than later.
Although the club recently triggered a one-year extension to his current deal until the end of next season, this latest outburst from Raiola could be the final straw for the United hierarchy.
Despite Pogba finding the target in the league for the first time this season in the win away at West Ham, Raiola has again decided to speak out on his client’s future.
In an interview with Tuttosport, the agent claimed: “I can say that it’s over for Paul Pogba at Manchester Unite
It’s not the first time Raiola’s comments have caused controversy, having already hinted that his player wanted out of the club and getting involved in a way of words with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the player’s availability for selection.

Woodward and Solskjaer have both suggested that the club would be cutting their cloth and would be unlikely to spend such sums given the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on finances this year.
However, by allowing Pogba to finally leave, United may well be in a position to replace him with the highly rated 20-year-old.
Sancho helped himself to 20 goals and 20 assists for the German giants last season, positioning himself as an ideal signing for United who have had issues with creativity in the last couple of years.
Before his admittedly stunning strike against the Hammers, Pogba had failed to find the target in the Premier League since his post-lockdown goal in the 3-0 win at Aston Villa last season – his only goal of the previous campaign.
After returning to Old Trafford from Juve for a world record £90million fee in 2016, hopes were high for the player who originally joined the club as a 16-year-old.
An impressive first season saw him help United an EFL Cup and Europa League double but things went downhill after that.
A fallout with then-manager Jose Mourinho was followed by lengthy spells on the sideline thanks to injury.
Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Pogba has struggled to nail down a starting place and has been far from consistent when selected.
Aside from his issues going forward, this season alone, the midfielder has conceded three Premier League penalties in the eight matches he’s featured.
In contrast, having failed to get his move due to Dortmund’s steadfast stance, Sancho has knuckled down and already has goals and assists in his 13 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.
With Pogba failing to deliver for some time now, his agent’s comments will be seen as an unnecessary pain for United.
Raiola’s latest comments may finally force all parties to concede that Pogba’s move hasn’t worked out and give Woodward the perfect opportunity to cut his losses and finally go all out for Sancho.
