Man Utd have ‘ideal team’ for Max Allegri to convert into Premier League title contenders

The 52-year-old says United already have the calibre of players for Allegri to mould into world beaters.

And he insists with a couple additions the club could end the title drought that has endured at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

“I would see him well at Manchester United,” Di Canio told Sky Italia.

“It would be the ideal team. Not because of the characteristics, but because in the squad there are talents and experienced players, and with some additions, they could be the team that Allegri could bring back to be closer to other great clubs.

“We’re talking about City, Liverpool, who are struggling, but they are great clubs. The will from [Manchester United] to return to the top is there, and an intelligent one like Allegri could make it happen.”

United kick off against Leipzig in Germany on Tuesday at 8pm UK time.
