Martin Lewis slams 'unfair' self isolation grant and Holly Willoughby says 'it's mad'

The caller informed Martin she has been alerted by the NHS COVID-19 app to self isolated as she had been exposed to the coronavirus, meaning she could not work. However, she had not been contacted by Test and Trace and asked to isolate.
How does the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme work?
“If you’ve been told to self-isolate on or after 28 September 2020, you’re under a legal obligation to do so, and could be eligible for a £500 Test and Trace Support Payment if you live in England.”
You must also meet the following criteria:
- You’ve responded to messages received from NHS Test and Trace (by email, text, letter or phone call) in which you provided your contact details
- You’re employed or self-employed
- you’re unable to work from home and will lose income as a result of self-isolating
You must be currently recieving at least one of the following:
- Universal Credit
- Working Tax Credit
- income-based Employment and Support Allowance
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income Support
- Housing Benefit
- Pension Credit
