Marvel’s Silk Series Gets Watchmen’s Tom Spezialy as Showrunner

Sony Pictures Television has been working on a live-action TV series about Silk, who is an ally of Spider-Man. As reported by Deadline, the series has found its showrunner.

Spezialy, who served as an executive producer on Watchmen, has signed an overall deal with Amazon Studios and Deadline claims that he will be working on the Silk TV adaptation as part of the deal. The Silk live-action series is also expected to debut on Amazon Prime Video. Spazielly will also serve as an executive producer alongside Lauren Moon, who wrote the TV adaptation based on the comic created by Humberto Ramos and Dan Slott. Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse’s Chris Miller and Phil Lord will executive produce the Silk series along with Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal.

Cindy Moon aka Silk first appeared in 2014’s Spider-Man Vol. 3 #4. Just like Spider-Man, Silk can shoot webs and possesses Spider-Sense, superhuman strength, speed, and stamina. She was part of the Agents of Atlas team, which debuted with War of the Realms tie-in. Details about the plot and cast of the Silk TV series aren’t revealed yet. Since the series has already found its showrunner, news regarding Silk’s directors and cast members is expected to be revealed soon.

Silk is one of the many Spider-Man projects in the works. Sony’s Spider-Man spinoffs include Morbius, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Kraven the Hunter, Madame Web, Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, and Olivia Wilde’s Spider-Woman. Along with these, Marvel is developing Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is set to release on December 17, 2021.
