Mike Bushell apologises to BBC Breakfast co-star for last-minute absence ‘Saved the day’

BBC Breakfast star Mike Bushell, 55, issued an apology to Adam Wild after he was unable to appear on the programme. The former Strictly Come Dancing star praised his replacement on Twitter and thanked him for standing in at the last minute and saving the day.

Sharing a picture of himself on the programme on social media, Adam told his 1,369 followers that his morning had been unexpected.

He thanked the show’s hosts Dan Walker and Louise Minchin for showing him the ropes.

“I’ll be honest, not quite the morning I was expecting.

“Great to make (big) surprise appearance on @BBCBreakfast,” he wrote online before thanking his co-stars.

Earlier this month it was announced that main host Louise will be leaving BBC Breakfast after 20 years on the red sofa.

She said it was time to turn off her alarm clock after getting up at 3.40am for over two decades.

Louise’s co-stars including Mike, rushed to social media to bid farewell to the presenter, who will leave the show later this year.

“Wow goodness me. We will miss you so much and part of the Breakfast family forever,” Mike wrote online, in view of his 59,900 followers when the news broke on June 8.
