Mike Tyson reveals he used fake penis to pass drug tests as boxing return nears

Mike Tyson has revealed he went to great lengths to pass drug tests during his heyday. Like the fighters of today, Tyson and his contemporaries were subjected to stringent drug testing – although the scopes of the anti-doping agencies weren’t anywhere near as broad as they are today.

Throughout his career, Tyson was a regular user of recreational drugs – an addiction he’s spoken candidly about in recent years.

Recreational drugs, like their performance-enhancing counterparts, show up in urine and blood samples.

Tyson – the former undisputed heavyweight champion – was all too aware of that fact and went to great lengths to ensure his urine samples never came back positive.

When asked to provide a urine sample by drug testers, ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ would wear a prosthetic penis called a ‘Whizzinator’, which allowed him to give a clean specimen.

“That was what I was afraid of! I guess I heard of this happening because I was afraid of that.”

A fortnight on Saturday, ‘Iron Mike’ will return to the ring for the first time in over 15 years for an exhibition bout with former four-weight world champion Roy Jones Jr.

Tyson has got himself in remarkable shape for his comeback fight, showcasing a more than impressive physique for a 54-year-old man on social.

Training for his charity bout with Jones Jr has well and truly re-lit a fire in Tyson, who hopes to take part in more exhibitions in the future.

“That’s always something that we can do if the people want it, if it’s pragmatic enough, I’d love to do it,” he said. “I don’t want to stop at this one event.

“There are big superstars out there who are my status or more who want to get involved with this stuff.

“I’m grateful for my health, and I’m grateful to be in this physical state just to be doing this.

‘I’m grateful that I have good people around me. I’ve been sober for the last three years. It’s why I got involved with this boxing stuff.”
