NAIA Baseball All-Americans Announced

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The NAIA released the 2022 Baseball All-American teams on Tuesday and four Mid-South Conference student-athletes earned recognition.
The baseball All-America teams are selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches’ Association All-America Committee.
Cumberland’s (Tenn.) Nolan Machibroda and Cumberlands’ (Ky.) Charlie Muniz earned First Team honors while Freed-Hardeman’s (Tenn.) Colton Huntt and Will McCall were honorable mention selections.
Machibroda — the MSC Player of the Year — led the Phoenix in batting average (.460), home runs (17) and in RBIs with 83. His .460 batting average led the conference and ranked fourth in the NAIA.
Muniz led the Patriots with a .418 batting average and ranked third in the conference. He tallied a team and conference-high 19 home runs and drove in the second-most runs in the MSC with 66. Muniz also ranked third in the conference with a .773 slugging percentage.
Huntt — the MSC Pitcher of the Year – started 14 games for the Lions pitching 83-2/3 innings. He posted an 8-4 record with a 3.33 ERA while recording 79 strikeouts. Huntt allowed 31 earned runs and walked 26 batters this season. His eight wins were tied for the second-most in the conference and his ERA was third-best.
McCall led the Lions with a .399 batting average, 15 home runs and 54 RBIs this season. He also posted a team-best .727 slugging percentage. McCall ranked fourth in the MSC in home runs and fifth in batting average.
The first and second teams are also recognized as ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods. The ABCA began recognizing All-Americans in 1949 and named the first ABCA NAIA All-America team in 1969.
