Nets’ Kevin Durant blames his ‘big-ass foot’ for Game 7 loss to Bucks

Kevin Durant thought he hit a game-winning 3-point shot with one second left in regulation to send the Nets through to the Eastern Conference finals.

The make was just a long game-tying 2, however, because a toe was on the line.

As a result, the Nets and Bucks went to overtime, where Brooklyn ultimately fell 115-111.

After the game, Durant rued the fact that the toe played an unfortunate part in the Nets’ defeat.

“My big-ass foot stepped on the line,” said Durant, who wears a size 18 shoe. “I saw the screenshot, how close I was to ending their season off that shot. But it wasn’t in God’s plan. Hey, we’ll move on.”

When looking at the screenshot that Durant is referencing, it’s easy to understand why he might be frustrated. He was just fractions of an inch away, maybe even less, from earning his team a victory.

Nonetheless, the evidence was clear that Durant — who finished with 48 points while playing all 53 minutes — stepped on the line. Even when watching the shot live on the TNT broadcast, viewers could tell he wasn’t quite outside the arc.

Still, that doesn’t take away from Durant’s great make, though the 11-time All-Star wasn’t that impressed with it.

“It was a solid shot, but I’ve hit way bigger shots than that,” he said.

Perhaps he would have felt differently if his foot had been a bit farther back. Or just a tiny bit smaller.
