Nintendo Switch OLED Model Revealed, Set For Release in October

In a surprising move, Nintendo has revealed finally revealed a new model of its Switch console, officially called the Nintendo Switch OLED model. The new model packs in new features, but it isn’t the revised “Switch Pro” as there is no mention of improved hardware.

Nintendo Switch OLED Model – What’s New?

The new Nintendo Switch OLED model will include the following new additions to the console:

  • 7-inch OLED screen
  • A dock with a wired LAN port
  • 64 GB storage
  • “Enhanced” audio
  • Braided cables on Joy-cons.

“The new Nintendo Switch (OLED model) is a great option for players who want to experience the new vibrant screen when playing in handheld and tabletop mode,” said Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser.

“With the addition of this new model to the Nintendo Switch family of systems, people have an additional choice of a system that best fits the gaming experience they desire – whether it’s Nintendo Switch (OLED model), Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite.”

The console will launch with two colour options:

  • Nintendo Switch (OLED model) white set, which features white Joy-Con controllers, a black main unit and a white dock.
  • Nintendo Switch (OLED model) neon red/neon blue set, which features neon red and neon blue Joy-Con controllers, a black main unit and a black dock.

The new Nintendo Switch (OLED) will release on October 8, 2021 and will cost $349.99 or Rs. 26,000 approximately. Given the company’s official absence in India, we expect retailers to sell imported units at launch.
