‘Palm Springs meets Pontins’: Inside the UK’s poshest caravan with access to rooftop pool

The initiative aims to “bring new life to the UK travel and caravan industry”. Its Birchington-on-Sea holiday home is “designed for fabulous gatherings with friends”. It consists of three themed bedrooms (The Jungle, The Lonely Heart Saloon and The Space Disco) all decorated with retro furnishings such as sequin walls, mirrored ceiling, and heart-shaped mirror.

The communal area’s “light-filled area” aims to mimic “the desert modern architecture of Palm Springs”.

It boasts a six-seater crescent sofa upholstered in velvet. In the kitchen, even the sink is gold.

Guests also have access to two bathrooms, a cloakroom toilet, outdoor dining facilities, free WiFi and parking.

The holiday park features a heated indoor swimming pool (when purchasing entertainment passes), a bar and restaurant with evening entertainment, crazy golf, a children’s outdoor play area and a small park shop.

Club Jupiter was created by interior designer Whinnie Williams, stylist and design consultant Emma Jane Palin, and travel journalist Anna Hart.

The trio wanted to make “a unique and unforgettable setting for a glorious Margate weekender”.

On Airbnb, the caravan says the surrounding areas are “filled with dog-friendly restaurants, beaches and coffee shops”.

Hart said now is the perfect time for Club Jupiter to open its doors, as “many people don’t feel comfortable going abroad just yet” due to the pandemic.

She added: “We wanted to put our memories from our childhoods and our style inspirations into a pre-loved caravan, to encourage people our age to experience caravan holidays.”

Speaking to holiday home manufacturers Willerby, Palin said: “We were looking for something different to do and a challenge during lockdown.”

She described the renovation as “very nostalgic” as all three creatives went on caravan holidays as children.

Pal Williams said Club Jupiter was “the first step” in achieving the trio’s dream of managing a hotel or B&B.

She added: “We thought it would be great to make caravans cool and introduce them to a younger market.”

Due to “delicate design features” ‑ the holiday home describes itself as “not particularly child-friendly” and cautions guests to bear this in mind before booking.

It also only allows “one well behaved dog under 10kg” because of the small space.

Guests with furry companions should inform Club Jupiter ahead of arrival so a dog bed and bowl can be provided.

Club Jupiter is now open for bookings, but demand for the posh caravan has seen multiple months completely booked out.

On Airbnb, a three-night stay at the caravan (from 6-9 August) costs a total of £906 with amenities such as shampoo, shower gel, and cleaning products included.

This is comprised of £233 per night, as well a cleaning fee of £75 and a service fee of £131.
