Path of Exile – An Introduction to Warlord’s Exalted Orb

Want to know more about the Warlord’s Exalted Orb in Path of Exile? Then these are the facts you need.

Whether you’re new to Path of Exile or a stone-cold veteran, you are going to be aware of the PoE currency system pretty early on. As opposed to your conventional methods of using coins or gold, you are going to predominantly be focusing on orbs and scrolls. In this instance, we will be taking a look at the Warlord’s Exalted Orb.

What is the Warlord’s Exalted Orb?

Before we take a look into how you can use this exalted orb, firstly you will want to know what it is. The Warlord’s Exalted Orb is a form of PoE currency that you can use to enhance rare equipment that you have obtained. This will provide it with Warlord influence as well as an affix mod of the same name.

Using the Warlord’s Exalted Orb

So now that we know what the exalted orb is, we can now apply it to our items. To do so, right-click on it then find a high-level rare item that doesn’t have any influence on it. Left-click the item to then apply the Warlord exalted orb to it.

Each one of your rare items allows for you to add six random modifiers to it. The item itself will have increased catalyst quality to add to the chance of introducing a modifier that has the same quality type as well. It also removes 20% of the quality that has been applied when it is used.

It is worth mentioning that the Warlord’s exalted orb can only be used on rare items in the game. As with a regular Exalted orb, it brings a new modifier to your rare item, though there is a difference in that it does add a Warlord influence symbol when using the Warlord’s exalted orb. If you want to be able to tell if your rare item has the influence symbol on it, you can take a look to see if there is a yellow glow on it.

Swinging back round to the point on the catalyst quality, it is also worth mentioning again that this increases the chances of you applying an affix that has the same type of quality. An example of this would be that if you were to use the Turbulent catalyst, then you would be adding a quality that would increase your elemental damage output modifiers. By adding this catalyst to one of your items, you will be increased the chances of getting a Warlord’s affix of “increased Elemental Damage” for your item.

If you do have an influenced item, then you will not be able to use a Warlord’s exalted orb on it. These range from Warlord, Hunter, Shaper, Elder, Crusader, and Redeemer items.

Getting the Orb

Trying to find exalted orbs can often be difficult, given the value of the item. If you are planning on farming such an item, then you will need to start killing monsters, since this is the most viable method of doing so. Specifically, it can only be dropped by Drox the Warlord, who is one of the bosses of the Atlas towards the end-game. Getting the PoE orb is still difficult to do, given the fact that it only has a drop level of 1, and its drop rate is also very low. If you are going to confront Drox, then you will find the boss at the Warlord’s Keep. Drox does have a modifier that means he cannot be fully slowed, and also has resistances towards elemental damage and chaos. The only alternative from Drox is as a rare drop from monsters or chests as part of maps that are under the influence of this boss.

So now you know a bit more about the Warlord’s exalted orb. The fact that Path of Exile doesn’t follow the traditional rules of currencies opens up a whole wealth of additional opportunities for the game. The PoE currency system is rather unique, but with that comes some complication. With that in mind, you will find yourself doing a lot of research on items that are similar to the one that we have discussed here. As far as the Warlord’s exalted orb goes, you will have noticed that is quite difficult for you to get your hands on. Having said that, you at least have the right idea on the boss that you need to persist with in order to farm this particular item if you desire to.
