PIP claimants can receive a council tax reduction or have it forgoed - eligibility defined

PIP can be claimed by those who have a health condition which results in the claimant having difficulty with daily living or getting around (for a minimum of three months). Additionally, claimants must also expect these difficulties to continue for at least nine months.
Initial claims for PIP can be made by post or over the phone. Claimants will need the following information ready when claiming:
- their contact details
- their date of birth
- their National Insurance number
- their bank or building society account number and sort code
- their doctor or health worker’s name, address and telephone number
- dates and addresses for any time spent abroad, in a care home or hospital
PIP payments will usually come through every four weeks and a decision letter will break down when a first payment will come through, and what day of the week the claimant will usually be paid going forward.
Should a payment date fall on a bank holiday, claimants will usually be paid on the first working day before it.
PIP claimants may also be able to receive other state benefits and perks which includes the disability element of working tax credit or exemption from paying vehicle tax.
Those with severe conditions could generate up to £4,610 in additional support payments throughout the year.
