PIP points list: How many points do you need to get the enhanced amount?

PIP tests are normally done face-to-face but in the pandemic, you simply need to fill out a form and chat to the PIP claims line on the telephone. You need to answer questions about how well you perform specific tasks and how much money you get depends on how many points you get. How many points do you need to get the enhanced amount?

How much is PIP?

PIP is made up of two parts: the daily living part, and the mobility part.

To be eligible for the daily living part, you will need to have a condition that limits your ability to carry out day-to-day activities such as cooking, eating, drinking, cleaning, washing, getting dressed, and more.

The less able you are to do these things, the more points you will get.

The weekly rate for the basic daily living part of PIP is £59.70.

The enhanced daily living part is £89.15 per week.

If you are awarded any points at all, it will be an even number.

You can’t get one or three marks, you can only get, two, four, six, eight, or 12 points per question.

If you are perfectly able to do the task, you will get no points at all.

If you need to use an appliance, need assistance or promoting, or cannot do the activity at all you will get points.

Mobility

For the mobility part, you only have to answer two questions.

The first one is about planning and following journeys, and you can get up to 12 points for it.

You get no points if you can plan and follow the route of a journey unaided, but 12 points if you can’t do so without another person, an assistance dog, or an orientation aid.

The second question is about moving around, and you’ll get up to 12 points depending on how well you can stand by yourself or how far you can move.
