PIP: You may get up to £608 per month for stress, anxiety or other conditions – check now

PIP is formally known as Personal Independence Payments, which can help those living with a health condition or disability long term. The payment is tax-free and available to Britons whether they are currently in work or not. The payment is overseen by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to ensure eligible people get the support they need in their day-to-day lives.

The Government explains: “The amount you get depends on how your condition affects you, not the condition itself.

“You’ll be assessed by a health professional to work out the level of help you can get.”

As a result, then, a wide range of people will be able to gain support from PIP and it is worth checking.

PIP, however, is not just intended for those with a physical disability, and those living with a mental health condition may also be able to benefit.

Navigating this could come with extra costs, and as a result, PIP may offer assistance.

The sum from the DWP is comprised of two parts – a daily living element and a mobility component.

Whether someone receives one or both is dependent on how severely their condition impacts them.

The weekly rate for the daily living element of PIP is currently set at £60.00 or £89.60.

The Government explains the best way to claim is by calling the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Before a person makes this important call, however, they will need certain information to hand.

This will include:

  • Contact details
  • Date of birth
  • National Insurance number
  • Bank or building society account number and sort code
  • Doctor or health worker’s name, address and telephone number

In addition, if a person spends time abroad for more than four weeks, in a care home or in hospital, they should provide the dates, times and countries they visited.
