PS5 stock UK: Latest Amazon, John Lewis and Smyths PlayStation restock dates

UPDATE: Based on the latest reports shared today, the next possible PS5 stock update could happen on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Amazon is the next major retailer to host a PlayStation 5 restock, alongside John Lewis and ASDA.

Console hunters have been warned to check the Amazon PS5 pages at around 8am BST each day between Tuesday and Friday this week.

ORIGINAL: New predictions have been made regarding the next PS5 Stock update and which retailer will be releasing shipments next.

This week, Amazon UK, John Lewis and Smyths have all been linked to PlayStation 5 restocks.

And while we don’t have an exact date for when stock will become available to buy, there is a good chance that something will happen on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.

Based on the most recent predictions, an Amazon PS5 restock could happen on July 27, alongside several other stores.

The PS5 stock will reportedly go live at 8am BST and will mostly consist of disc edition consoles.

A list provided by PS5 Instant on Twitter includes a number of stores, but it should be noted that these are predictions, meaning that the final dates and times could change.

  • Amazon: July 27th – August 4th (8-10am)
  • John Lewis: July 27-29th (7-9am)
  • ShopTo: July 28th – August 3rd (9am to 1pm)
  • Smyths: July 30th – August 6th
  • ASDA: July 27 – August 4
  • Scan: July 30th – August 6th

John Lewis is only expected to have around 2,000 consoles to sell, meaning it could be a very short restock.

Meanwhile, Amazon is expected to have thousands of next-gen consoles to sell, although they have been known to push back dates.

If that does happen, gamers might have to wait until early August before the web giant has more.

Smyths is another retailer in the UK which is expected to offer PlayStation 5 consoles nearer the end of the week. This could happen in the evening on Friday, July 30.

Knowing when a PS5 restock is happening can be vital but it’s also worth knowing how each retailer handles its shipments.

And here are a few examples of how best to try and buy a PlayStation 5 console from leading UK retailers:

AMAZON UK: Amazon UK runs better under strain but still comes with a few kinks worth mentioning. Having an account set up with your card details is a good start, and gamers should also try adding a console to their wishlist before checking out. More stock is expected during the end of July.

ARGOS: The Argos website is notorious for crashing and being unable to complete purchases when site traffic is high. Stock trackers suggest using the mobile Argos app and keeping an eye on local store listings.

GAME: GAME is a UK retailer that offers the most regular stock updates for PS5 consoles. However, console hunters have been warned to use Guest Checkout, as this option is less likely to crash when completing a purchase. The next PS5 stock is expected in August 2021.

Many of the consoles currently available in the UK are digital, meaning that they don’t have a disc drive, with Sony confirming:

“The only difference between the PS5 console and the PS5 Digital Edition console is the inclusion of an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive in the PS5 console. The PS5 Digital Edition console does not feature a disc drive.

“The PS5 console features an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive that will allow you to play PS5 Blu-ray disc games and PS4 Blu-ray disc games, as well as play video from 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs, standard Blu-ray discs, and DVDs.

“The PS5 Digital Edition console does not have an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive. PS5 Digital Edition console owners will be able to buy PS5 and PS4 games from PlayStation Store or access games via PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now (an ongoing paid subscription is required for each, sold separately).”
