Ruth Langsford sparks fury as host questions if Ollie Robinson’s old tweets were ‘banter’
Loose Women host Ruth Langsford has faced criticism online after the panel addressed Ollie Robertson. The cricket player has been axed from the England Test Team in response to the “unacceptable” racist and sexist tweets he posted as an 18-year-old.
The offensive messages resurfaced online last week as Robinson, 27, made his Test debut against New Zealand at Lords.
At the close of play on day one, Robinson issued an apology and said he was “embarrassed” and “ashamed”.
He has been suspended from international cricket by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
During today’s episode of Loose Women, Ruth had suggested that his comments may have been “teenage banter”.

To which Janet replied: “He was an adult, you’re an adult at 18.”
“18 is a teen,” Ruth countered. “Could an argument be made that he was a hot-headed teenager, a stupid teenager, he said some stupid things?
“It might have been the kind of bants he was having with his mates?”
Robinson has since apologised for his past comments, saying: “On the biggest day of my career so far, I am embarrassed by the racist and sexist tweets that I posted over eight years ago which have today become public.
