Sean Lock dead: Jason Manford’s heartbreaking last text to co-star before his death

Comedian Jason Manford has expressed his devastation after it was announced that Sean Lock had died. The funny man died aged 58 surrounded by his loved ones.

His representative confirmed that he had been battling cancer at the time of his death.

A statement from Off The Kerb Productions said: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Sean Lock.

“He died at home from cancer, surrounded by his family.”

They added: “Sean will be sorely missed by all that knew him. We kindly request that the privacy of his family and children is respected at this difficult time.”

Now, his 8 Out Of Ten Cats co-star, Jason, has shared a touching tribute to his friend.

In a string of Twitter posts, Jason penned: “I’m absolutely gutted about this.”

He continued: “So heartbroken for his wife and children. One of the funniest men I’ve ever worked with and I used to adore occasionally making him laugh on my first proper telly job, 8 Out Of 10 Cats. RIP mate xx.”

Jason later shared a screenshot of a text message he sent to Sean on July 28.

Many other celebrities have also taken to social media to share their condolences, with Richard Osman saying: “Over 15 years producing ‘Out Of 10 Cats’ Sean Lock made me laugh so much and so often. A unique and brilliant comic voice. Love to his family and his many friends #RIPSean.”

Before Alan Davies tweeted: “Sad news about Sean Lock. Funny on stage, hilarious off. We met in 1988 right at the start of our stand up careers. I hadn’t seen him in recent years as he quietly wrestled with illness but I feel very sad today for Anoushka and their children. RIP Locky.”

While Sean’s friend and fellow comedian Lee Mack added: “I’ve known this day was coming for some time, but it’s no less heartbreaking.

“A true original both in comedy and life. I will miss him so much.”
