Spider-Man: Miles Morales Gets New Costume for 10th Anniversary

Marvel Comics is marking the 10th anniversary of Miles Morales’ original debut this summer, and they’re giving him a brand new costume for the occasion.

Marvel revealed Miles’ updated look today (via Newsarama), which will debut in the upcoming Miles Morales: Spider-Man #30. Check out the cover art below:

While Miles’ new suit retains his trademark red and black color scheme, a lot has changed. Rather than opt for form-fitting spandex, Miles has switched to a looser suit that almost resembles a tracksuit. He’s also sporting some color-matched sneakers, likely a nod to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

With that in mind, it’s not surprising to learn the new costume was created by a veteran of Marvel’s Spider-Man cartoons, Chase Conley. Conley previously worked on shows like Ultimate Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #30 will feature new stories from several creators who have worked with the character over the years. Joining regular writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Carmen Carnero are Miles’ co-creator, artist Sara Pichelli, Into the Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and Into the Spider-Verse 2 co-director Kemp Powers. Unfortunately, Miles’ other co-creator, writer Brian Michael Bendis, likely won’t be joining in since he’s currently exclusive to DC Comics.

Look for this anniversary special to hit stores on September 18, 2021. Marvel will also be publishing a number of Miles-themed variant covers for other titles during September.

This reveal comes as the series is currently in the midst of a new Clone Saga. As revealed in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #25, there are three mysterious clones of Miles running around the Marvel Universe.
