Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari review: Manoj Bajpayee-Diljit Dosanjh and the ensemble cast make it a decent enjoyable a

Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is going to release in the theatres. It is the first film to come out after the pandemic in the screens. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Annu Kapoor, Supriya Pilgaonkar and a host of other actors. While the title suggests that it might be a comedy centred around astrological complications in a marriage, the story is completely different. With a superb cast, people can expect some brilliant performances. What’s it about…
Suraj Dhillon (Diljit Dosanjh), the sober son of a prosperous dairy owner in Mumbai is keen to settle down with a good girl. He goes to meet a prospective girl at a match-making session only to find out that his prospects have been ruined by a certain Mangal Rane (Manoj Bajpayee), who is a marriage detective. He decides to avenge his insult, only to fall head over heels in love with Mangal’s sister Tulsi (Fatima Sana Shaikh). What happens thereafter is a situational comedy that does not really make you roll in laughter. Also Read – Theatres reopened but footfalls remain low; workers hit

What’s hot…
The performances are the best part of the film. While Manoj Bajpayee stands out as Mangal Rane, the ensemble cast is truly delightful. Leading the pack is Annu Kapoor who is scintillating. Abhishek Banerjee, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Seema Pahwa are also in great form. A special mention to the actor who makes an appearance towards the end as a prospective groom. Diljit Dosanjh is good and Fatima does well in the emotional scenes. The film has a premise that lends itself for good situational comedy. It is shot beautifully across Mumbai nicely capturing life in old Maharashtrian colonies. Abhishek Sharma’s narration is also good. What’s not…
Unlike slapstick comedies, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari had a lot more scope. The characters are quite interesting. However, there is not a single sequence that makes you roll with laughter. The dialogues lack punches at places, and you feel frustrated as they have such a fantastic ensemble of characters. You so wish you had a little more of Neha Pendse and Vijay Raaz in the film.

BL Verdict:Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari has a nice premise and could have been a riot. Sadly, the writers do not tap into the talent that they have at their disposal. Nevertheless, it is enjoyable for the greater part.
