The stats behind Arsenal

Pressure is mounting on Mikel Arteta after Arsenal suffered an embarrassing 1-0 defeat by Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday evening. The Gunners were booed off the pitch at the Emirates Stadium after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s own goal gave the away side victory.
Granit Xhaka was sent off for grabbing the throat of Ashley Westwood in the 58th minute and, despite attempting 18 shots, the home side failed to find a way past Nick Pope in goal, with Aubameyang flicking a corner into his own net on 73 minutes.
The result leaves Arsenal 15th in the Premier League table with just 13 points from their opening 12 matches.
Arteta is approaching a year in the job, but is now in doubt to reach his anniversary on 26 December having managed just four league wins this season.
Asked where the performance in front of 2,000 disappointed fans leaves his side, the Spaniard replied: “In a worse position.

They have never lost five consecutive league games at home, but host fourth-placed Southampton at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, who haven’t won away in the league at Arsenal since 1987.
Before Sunday evening, Burnley hadn’t won away at the Gunners since 1974, losing all of their last nine away games against them. Arsenal had won 12 and lost none of their last 14 meetings in all competitions against them.
In fact the Clarets were one of 10 teams to play Arsenal in the Premier League and never beat them. Only Portsmouth (14) had a worse record against them.
Burnley aren’t the only side to break their duck against Arsenal this season though. Leicester hadn’t won away at Arsenal since 1973 before this season, while Wolves broke their run which dated back to 1979.
Stats
The Gunners have now gone 12 hours and 32 top-flight minutes without finding the net from open play.
Only Burnley, Sheffield United and West Brom have managed fewer goals this season than their tally of 10 goals.
Arsenal have received six Premier League red cards since Arteta took charge last December, double that of any other side in the same period.
Aubameyang still hasn’t scored at the right end at home in the Premier League this season.
Ironically, Aubameyang’s own-goal was the first time Arsenal have conceded from a set-piece this season, becoming the last Premier League team to do so.
Xhaka has now received 40 cards in his Premier League career: 37 yellow and three red cards, two of which have come against Burnley.
Willian has attempted 30 crosses in his last two Premier League games, completing just five of them against Tottenham and Burnley.
