TV licence update: How will TV licence change for over-75s this month?

Last year highly controversial changes to the TV licence came into force, which ended the right to a free TV licence for people over the age of 75. While a grace period was put in place to let people make arrangements, a major change is scheduled to come into place at the end of July 2021.
How will the TV licence change for over-75s this month?
A transition period was announced by the BBC back in February due to the coronavirus pandemic, to allow people to sort out payment arrangements for their TV licences.
But on July 31, the licence fee transition period for the over-75s will come to an end.
Out of 3.9 million people who needed to make new TV licence fee arrangements, some 260,000 people may expect to be contacted by the BBC with information about the next steps after the transition period ends.
