Fonbet has named the three-time world ice hockey champion Alexander Ovechkin as its new brand ambassador.

Lauded as one of the most celebrated athletes in Russia, the Stanley Cup winner will work alongside Fonbet across a series of events, including advertisements, press conferences, workshops and jersey giveaways.

“It’s hard to overestimate the importance of our partnership with Alexander Ovechkin,” Alexander Paramonov, Director General of Fonbet, said.

“This is a truly significant event for our company. Ovechkin is known, loved and respected in the hockey community and is one of the most recognisable athletes and world-class stars. The partnership between this amazing athlete and the oldest betting company in the CIS is one of the greatest highlights of our year.”

Having already partnered with the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) earlier this year, this new partnership with Ovechkin will help strengthen Fonbet’s presence within the ice hockey space.

Alina Yakirevich, Marketing Director of Fonbet, said: “We’re excited that an athlete of this magnitude is now part of our company. Partnering with Alexander Ovechkin has opened up a lot of new marketing opportunities for us.

“Our contract has a lot of potential opportunities for options. I’d like to thank Alexander for his flexibility during negotiations and willingness to try new formats of cooperation. We’re confident that with his help we’ll be able to expand our customer base and interact effectively with a new audience.”

Alexander Ovechkin said: “It’s exciting that such a large and experienced betting company has invited me to be an ambassador.

“Fonbet is known for its partnerships with sports and journalism stars, and major football and hockey clubs, including my own team: UHC Dynamo Moscow. I’m sure that we’ll have plenty of interesting events in store for hockey and sports fans everywhere. Follow me and Fonbet on social media and never miss what’s coming next!”
